TOGETHEREFFECT HOUSE SESSIONS
LEARNING TOGETHER
As I learned Effect House, I noticed that some teammates held back from asking questions. I worked with an interactive engineer (IE) to bring real projects into our learning sessions.
19 documented sessions · Up to 44 attendees at one session · January to August 2023
WHY SELF-STUDY
WASN’T ENOUGH
Designers were learning to build effects that interactive engineers had previously built for us, and our questions were specific to the effects we were making.
I invited IE into our sessions, initially borrowing my design lead’s office hour slot, then proposed a separate series in January 2023. I collected questions, wrote announcements, gathered demo files, and shared recordings with the wider team.
LEARN THROUGH
A PROJECT
GIVE PEOPLE A STARTING POINT
Some teammates worried their questions were too basic, so I suggested inviting project teams to share what they were making.
Instead of relying only on submitted questions, I wanted a project to give people something concrete to discuss.
Later sessions walked through projects such as a 3D glitter makeup material, a dress effect, and a 3D portal, alongside tool updates.
Invite designers and interactive engineers to show the effects they are making.
Use a real project to make tool questions concrete, so no question feels too basic.
Collect questions and demo files, then share recordings with the wider team.
We paused the series in October 2023 as the team went through changes. In 2026, I was helping teammates learn to build with Effect House AI.
